This is such a pretty vintage ring.  Set on a 9ct yellow gold shank, this exceptional ring features a stunning pale blue aquamarine of approximately 3ct surrounded by gold rope twist bordering.  The stone is beautifully clear with only some very light surface marks seen under a loupe.  This beautifully coloured gemstone measures 7mm x 1.2cm and weighs 2.14g.  This ring is not marked, but I would date it to the 1940s.

Aquamarines are much loved and highly sought after.  They are renowned in history for their beautiful colour and were worn as tokens of good luck and fearlessness. They are also the birthstone for March.

The name, 'Aquamarine' is derived from the Latin, 'Water of the sea', which is explained by its wispy sky-blue to deep ocean teal colour palette.  They were also once thought to be the treasure of mermaids.

The ring is currently a UK size K (US size 5 1/4) but could be re-sized by your local jeweller.  It is in lovely condition, has been lightly cleaned and is ready to wear.
